Dearest Mama,
I CANNOT WAIT TO CALL YOU!!! I am sending a package today. I am very
excited! My first package! I hope it gets to Pocatello before everyone
leaves...It has Marysa's birthday present in it, some Mother's day fun, and
other random stuff. The plan is to skype at 7 pm cali time. We have dinner at 6
so plan around 7:15ish. WEEHOO!
This week was a very humbling week for me. Let me tell you why
1. I went on an exchange with Sister Groberg. We went to her area and we
ate dinner with a super nice, less active family. Two months ago their only
daughter was killed in a terrible car accident. She was 19 and some
irresponsible guys were racing on the highway and in a freak accident a
semi truck crossed the median and hit this girl's car. As I walked into their
home, I had no idea what to say to them. What do you say? We walked in and this
couple had made us a huge dinner. We chatted, laughed, and talked about their
daughter. They were soooo kind to us! They were visibly still in shock about the
loss of their daughter. Their home was filled with pictures of her. We shared a
message about love. We thanked them for showing us so much love, and I felt the
spirit strongly as we testified about how much their Heavenly Father and Savoir
love them. The beautiful thing about the gospel is that even when I have NO IDEA
how someone might be feeling, I can always testify that the Savior knows exactly
what they are feeling. He gets it. He understands. He is the only one that can
lift the burden. For that I am grateful.
2. We ate dinner with a family yesterday of three girls and one boy. We did
not know the family going into the dinner, but as soon as I walked in the house
I could feel that she was a widow. The home was filled with pictures of the
father who had passed away in an accident. My heart hurt as I saw that little
girls running to the door to great us. You would not believe how happy this
little family is! I cannot imagine the pain, confusion, and heart ache that they
have felt, but they are the most faithful family I have every met. The girls
were telling us all about their dad's mission stories. They all expressed
desires to serve missions! I know that it is the faith of this family that has
carried them through the hard times. The gospel of Jesus Christ blesses
families!
3. We had two investigators (a husband and wife) come to church yesterday!
WEEHOO! We had stopped by their house twice this past week, and tried texting
and calling multiple times with no luck. Sunday morning we got a call from
J....... asking where the chapel was!!! So we waited outside to make sure he
wouldn't get lost. We sat outside for about 25 minutes praying he would show up.
We decided that he probably wasn't going to make it, so we walked into our
Gospel Principles class (i was pretty bummed) and BOOM! Sitting inside the class
is J....... and his wife M.......! Surprise!!! He must have entered the back door
and a member had already welcomed him and was sitting next to him in the class.
Mission work is IMPOSSIBLE without members. They stayed for all 3 hours and the
branch had a break the fast fiesta after church so they stayed for that also!
The work is moving forward. No effort goes unnoticed by the Lord :) The funny
thing is in Elders Quorum they talked about the law of chastity, the word of
wisdom, keeping the Sabbath day holy, and tithing. Those are all the whammy
lessons we teach. He didn't run for the exit, so that is a great sign!

FUNNY THINGS
1. I ran into a girl that served in the New Jersey mission. She came in
after Kate left, but she says Hermana Summers is a legend! Apparently her
wedding announcement is all over the mission home, and the mission president
quotes her all the time! Love you Kate!
2. I also met a man named Paul Jones...apparently he went to high school
with Uncle Todd! Small world hahaa
3. I held a lizard and I ate at Carl's Jr...booooooo
(Emily doesn't like Carl's Jr - their commercials are nasty!!)
I love you mama! Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there! Feliz Dia
de la Madre!
Love,
Hermana Moo
