Pixar was an instrument for the Lord.

Yep i got the pictures! I LOVE pictures!
And holy cow mom. The zone leaders just gave me your package! I am in heaven!!!!!!!!!! I love the skirt!!!!! The wedding stuff!!!!!! The guac mix!!!!!! The letters!!!! I can't wait to sit down and read everything. Thank you so much. Seriously I love you so much! Thank you for always supporting me. I don't think you know how much all your letters and packages mean to me. And now I am about to cry...don't worry it is a happy cry :)

Pupusas are really yummy.
This week we found a truck by our apartment that sells them for 99 cents on Wednesdays -  so we always go get some!

You know how I will eat anything right?
Well this week I learned that there is one food I cannot stomach. Papaya. Oh man. I can stomach Cilantro, but this guy gave us a drink that was just blended Papaya and I took one sip and almost died. I couldn't do it! I felt bad but I just held it in my hand unttil we left then dumped it out by a stop sign. Just writing about it makes sick!

Remember how i told you about that member that always feeds us, and she doesn't have a bed? Well she is about 58 years old and after one dinner I just couldn't take it anymore and I told HermanaDay that we have to get her a bed. We talked to the ward and the next time we showed up for dinnerthis bed was in her room. I had to fight back the tears. I was so happy I took a picture when she wasn't looking :)

You sneaky family! Keeping secrets from me...which is very easy when we only talk once a week hahaha, but it is better this way :) just letting me know when it is over! I got your letter a couple weeks back! Sorry I always forget to tell you I got them. Letters from mom are better than Ben and Jerrys!!!! I got the camera. MUCHAS GRACIAS! I will send some pics soon. The spanish is getting better. I am understand much much more! I still walk out of lessons a little angry because I wasn't able to say anything clearly, but I am trying not to stress about it. I am doing my best, and trying to stretch myself each week so I cannot be frustrated with myself. David O. Mckay said, "God only expects of us a daily, sincere, honest effort." So that is what i am trying to do!

I have great news! WE FOUND ESTRELLA AGAIN!!You would not believe how much changed from the last time we saw her. It only took 3 weeks of searching, but we found her! Let me tell you...the Lord has been preparing her and her family that past three weeks. I was feeling bad that we had not seen Estrella, I felt like we were abandoning her, but I know now that the Lord has been with her the entire time. Our first lesson with her, she never smiled and hardly talked, but on Wednesday she smiled and chatted our ears off!

She told us that she saw that movie Inside Out and that there is a fairy named Joy, and now when she feels sad she pretends that her room is full of fairies and nature! This may sound silly but Pixar was an instrument for the Lord. Her Grandma and the other ladies that live there were being nice to her too which was out of the ordinary. Her grandma told us that "Estrella needs to shower more!" but she stayed quiet the rest of the time. We got to sing primary songs with Estrella and play Simon Says. Then we taught her about Jesus and how he blessed all of the children in 3 Nefi 17. We told her a little about baptism and she explained what baptism was perfectly to us! Apparently she has a cousin that got baptized a few years ago and she still remembers! We asked her if one day she would want to be baptized, and she said yes. We asked her why and she said, "I want to be closer to God." I could not believe what I was hearing.

The problem is her adoptive mom does not want her baptized...because "we go to another christian church" but they never actually go to this church. They just say they are a part of it. I am learning a lot of patience. I wanted to straight up tell the mom, "If you want your daughter to go to this other church THEN GO to this other church. Allow this girl to have religion in her life. Let her become closer to God!" The mom said we can keep teaching her, so hopefully once school starts and Estrella gets a consistent schedule we will be able to see her a few times each week! I am so happy. I am a little disappointed that her mom is not allowing her to come to church with us or be baptized, but at least we can still teach her. Hopefully with time her mom's heart will be softened! All i know is that Estrella is happier, so I am thrilled!

(someone in our family got bit by a dog in the back side area. This statue reminded Emily of this certain person :)

What happened in Gethsemane? One of the members of our ward asked this really interesting question. Have you ever really sat down to think about it? Here is some insight we got from really pondering about it. Christ experienced all the pains, afflictions, weaknesses of the world. He did it so he could understand us perfectly. He knows exactly how we feel. He descended below all things, so we could always have hope. No matter how dark life may feel, the Savior is always an arms length away. But that is not only what happened in Gethsemane! He took all these problems, and pains, and sins and learned how to overcome them. To fix them! I thought how this applies to missionary work. Missionaries need to understand peoples concerns, problems, addictions BUT we need to know how to fix them. Ultimately it always comes back to our Savior. As a missionary I need to listen and then testify of the infinite power of Jesus Christ. I hope that made some sense...

I decided to study paciencia this week
because I am pretty sure Heavenly Father is trying to teach me about it and here are some cool quotes I found:

"Patience is confident not anxious"

"Patience is a willingness, in a sense, to watch the unfolding purposes of God with a sense of wonder and awe, rather than pacing up and down within the cell of our circumstance. Patience is not indifference. Actually it means caring very much but being willing, nevertheless, to submit to the Lord and to what the scriptures call the 'process of time'"  -Elder Maxwell

James 1:2-4
"my brethren count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations (JST many afflictions) knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh Patience. But LET PATIENCE HAVE HER PERFECT WORK,  that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing"

We work hard and give our best effort then we step back and 'let patience have her perfect work'

I love you all so much! I pray for you every night.
